Help provide a meal @ HART.

HART Ministries wishes to give a BIG THANK YOU to the Colbern Road Community of Christ Congregation for cooking, serving, and cleaning up after a wonderful meal for the homeless and impoverished community of the Westport area of Kansas City. They are one of four congregations who have helped to provide meals for HART Ministries. Other meals are provided in part or in whole by individuals or local organizations.
We serve three meals each week and in the past year served over 8,000 homeless and impoverished individuals in need of a nutritious meal. We endeavor at every meal to provide a wholesome and nutritious meal with grains, protien, vegetables and when available fruit.
Thank you to all who help make these meals possible. If you or your congregation or organization are interested in providing a meal or even donating the means for a meal to be made, please contact Teresa at: teresaboyd87@hotmail.com .
Thank you in advance for being a blessing to those in need.

Thanks...giving!

It's that time of year again, when we give thanks for all that we have received in this year. This year we have had so many blessings to give thanks for.

Our greatest blessings have come in seeing lives being changed and transformed by the power of God's love. Some of our other blessings have come in the formation of new friendships and partnerships.

I would like to take a moment to thank all of those who have this year begun to volunteer their time and ministry of God's love at HART and to pray God's richest blessings for you and your families in this coming new year.

I would also like to thank those individuals and organizations who have helped this year, financially and through in-kind donations, to make it possible for us to keep HART going and growing in ministry and love for our community.

Recently, we had the opportunity to form a new friendship. Through this friendship, there is a blanket and coat drive occuring at the Centerpoint Hospital, located in Independence, MO. We are so thankful for this new friendship and very greatful to those who are filling the clothing bin there with blankets and coats for the homeless and impoverished families and individuals of our Kansas City community.

If you are looking for a way to give back to God in appreciation for what He has done for you this year, stop by Wednesday, November, 25th at our ministry (3930 Broadway) and help serve the evening meal or drop off a coat and/or blanket in the bin located near the cafeteria at the Centerpoint Hospital.

Thank you Lord for another year and thank you to all who have given so freely of their time, talents, and abundance this year.

Volunteers Needed

We are in need of volunteers to work in several areas. Our first area of need is in the kitchen. We are running low on cooks who can come in and use our kitchen and food supplies to make a good meal for our homeless. We are also in need of individuals to help with routine tasks such as set-up, clean-up, and serving the meals. If you or anyone you know is interested in coming to our location at 3930 Broadway, Kansas City, MO, to help, please stop by or call 816-960-7211 and let us know in what area you would like to help. Thank you for your interest and thank you to all who already give of their time and talents to this ministry.

Moment of Insight

Sometimes we have moments in our lives where God reveals a little more about Himself. At times, He does it through other people, events or circumstances, and even through simple moments of reflection. The other day I had an opportunity to do some prayer and reflection and the Lord opened a moment of insight about a word He had spoken to me a few days prior.

He had said that He needs us, it wasn't so much about what we could do for Him or for others, He passionately needs us. We are His children and as any good father He was trying to let me know about His love and care for us. But, the other day, in a moment of insight, He opened up a whole new concept that was like another piece of the puzzle of God's need for us. He said it to me this way, "I don't love you because I need you, I need you because I love you." What He was saying in that moment was that His love is not like the world's love for us, where because we have something someone needs, they love us. God doesn't love us because He needs something from us. His need for us exists because He does love us, purely and without condition.

At this time of the year, with Christmas approaching it is so easy to become caught up in the buying of gifts and the giving and receiving of gifts. But, God's greatest gift to us was in the form of His Son, who represents God's great love for us. He needs us to accept Him and believe in Him, because He loves us. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes on Him should not perish; but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:16,17

May the blessing of His love penetrate our hearts this Christmas season as we remember this greatest gift of all, His Son.
